Sam Mackey is a freelance photographer, visual artist, and writer based in New York, NY. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Photojournalism from St. John's University with a minor in International Studies. She currently works as a Teaching Artist, integrating photography into core curriculum in NYC public schools. Her work is a culmination of shots created from a range of discarded disposable cameras refilled far too many times to professional DSLRs. When photographing, she finds interest in the mundane and seeks to present the matter in a new light. Additionally, she enjoys narrowing in on the fine details of the locations she is inhabiting to establish previously unnoticed themes about the place.
